Have you ever taken time to Meditate? I find the time I benefit mostly from Meditating is when I least think of doing it – times when my life is really busy, when I am stressed or feeling a bit down. That’s exactly it! That’s when it’s the best time to do it. You know when you are really busy or stressed and your head is going million miles an hour? Then it’s time to slow down and start to meditate.


You see meditation is really good for our bodies, but also our minds and our spirit.

The rest you gain from doing meditation is deeper than the deepest sleep. This will make you feel well rested and more energetic. It will bring clarity to your mind and the answers will come to you more easily as you are becoming more tuned in. When you meditate you also prevent stress to getting into your system and it also releases and lets go of stress that has become accumulated in the system.

Meditation makes you feel refreshed and happy.


So if you are you seeking calmness, peace of mind, happiness, more energy, health, positive relationships and fulfillment in life – I suggest that you start to meditate.

Here are some of the benefits of Meditating

- When you meditate the body is changing and every cell in the body is filled with more energy (prana). This results in a happier, more peaceful and enthusiastic you.
- It simply makes you more relaxed i.e. less anxiety and stress.
- It decreases pain you have in the body such as tension headaches, joint problems.
- It can lower you blood pressure.
-  It gives you more energy.
- It increases you creativity.
- You gain more clarity and problems that seem big become smaller. It simply sharpens the mind and you become more focused.
- You become happier, more emotional stable.
- You learn more about yourself.
- It improves the immune system
- You start to develop intuition


There are so many benefits from slowing down and taking time to Meditate.

The best thing about meditation is that you start living in the NOW and that you start let go of the past.

I often say, “Slow down to speed up”. There is no way we can just go faster and faster and do more and more – we do need the time to reflect, relax, re-focus and connect to our body, soul and spirit.

Eating well as you age

It is important to eat well but perhaps more so when you age. When you age your lifestyle may change. You may not be able to move as much as you previously did for a number of reasons; you may also find that your appetite decreases or that your digestion is not the same as it used to be. This can affect the amount of nutrients you are getting into your body. It is important to get enough essential vitamins, minerals and fibre for optimal health and wellbeing. Not eating well can result in general unwellness or exacerbate some chronic illness.

When you eat, make sure you eat well so that you get maximum nutrition and not just “empty calories” – calories that does not contain any nutrients.


Here are some things you can consider to help improve eating habits:

- Use less salt. Eating too much salt can increase the risk of high blood pressure and heart disease. Salt occurs naturally in many foods and there is no need to add more yourself. Stay away from highly processed foods and choose salt reduced varieties.
- Drink more water. Water supports provides many of the vital functions in our bodies, including hydration, digestion and blood volume, however as you age you may not feel thirsty as often, even when your body needs fluid. Drink water at least six times a day.
- Limit your intake of high fat foods such as chips, pasties and fried food.
- Reduce your alcohol intake. Alcohol does not provide any essential nutrients at all but it is full of calories.
- Enjoy a variety of healthy foods to make sure you get as many nutrients as possible.
- Go and see a Naturopath or Dietitian of you have any concerns about your eating habits or need help with how you can improve your nutrition.

Wellness RETREAT in Pennyroyal

We welcome you to our WELLNESS RETREAT in Pennyroyal being held Friday the 24th to Sunday the 26th of October 2014.

This is the second year this event is being help by Aspire Wellbeing & Wellness Coach Karin Hagberg.

Last years event was a huge success with 20 people attending and the feedback was very high. Overall the event was rated 9.8 out of 10!!

This year we are opening this event for 12 people! Be quick to book today. 
The Early Bird price is ONLY $595  - this is strictly valid to the 22nd of August 2014. The full cost has to be paid before the 22nd of August to get the Early Bird Offer. The cost after the 22nd of August will be $675.

Imagine having time to yourself while relaxing and unwinding in the beautiful Pennyroyal Retreat in the Otway National Park.

Your days will start with a Pilates/Yoga style session and meditation, followed by a healthy breakfast. Following with more Pilates/Yoga style, information sessions, nature walks, time for yourself and massage. The day will finish with guided meditation.

The Aspire weekend offers you a chance to re-‐energize your body, mind and spirit and will give you the basis to stay healthy and be happy.

NF0X1109The Aspire Retreat is facilitated by Karin Hagberg. Karin is a certified Pilates/Yoga instructor, Personal Trainer, Remedial Masseuse and NLP Coach/Hypnotherapist. Karin will be teaching the sessions and imparting the secrets to ultimate wellbeing.

Massage treatments will be offered by our Remedial Massage Therapists Tracey Langham. All the food will be prepared by Mia Corr Swedish nutrition expert and Mindfulness Eating Food Blogger Sara Dingle.

The Venue

The Retreat is held at the King Parrot Cottages accommodation near the Great Ocean Road, Lorne and the Otway Ranges. It is an iconic location. The cottages and event centre provides comfortable accommodation. It is nestled against the valley hillside, which offers sweeping views of the spectacular and peaceful Pennyroyal Valley or the mountain ash rainforest.
King Parrot is located 8 kilometers from Deans Marsh (about 1 1/2 hours drive from Melbourne CBD).

How to get to King Parrot From Melbourne

From Melbourne, go the West Gate bridge and follow the signs to Geelong (60 km). Take the Geelong Bipass and follow the signs to Colac and Winchelsea (37 km). At Winchelsea take the Deans Marsh/Lorne turn off (24kms). Pass the Deans Marsh General Store and continue to the next turnoff, turning right into Pennyroyal Valley Road Proceed along Pennyroyal Valley Road, across Pennyroyal Station Road and past the Gentle Annie Berry Farm Over the bridge, turn right into Dunse Track and drive up the hill for 2 kilometres. The King Parrot entrance is to the left.

Retreat Description

Our retreat is unique; designed to help you to develop an overall wellness program that you can integrate into your life. Karin will teach you a practical approach to health and wellness. You can learn to deal with issues such as stress and weight management through healthy eating and a Pilates program which includes not just the physical postures but breathing, meditation and special relaxation techniques.

Our nutritionally balanced menu, combined with exercise, will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. The retreat menu is based on nutrient-­‐rich fresh food, which will help to detoxify the body while giving you energy. Through diet, movement, meditation and breathing techniques we will give you the tools required to ultimate wellness.

Most of all we aim to teach you healthy lifestyle modifications that will be sustainable in your everyday life.

Our retreat is suitable for people of all levels of experience, both women and men.
